What does volunteering involve?

Providing love, compassion, emotional support and practical assistance to women and girls is always the first priority of Birthright volunteers. After completing a training program, volunteers are assigned a regular shift at the Birthright Office. This is usually 2.5 hours a week. Volunteers handle a variety of phone calls, especially those from girls and women who are distressed by their pregnancy.

A new volunteer works with a seasoned volunteer until he or she feels comfortable putting their training into practice and taking a shift at the Birthright Office.

Some of the duties of a Birthright volunteer include providing:

  • free pregnancy test
  • a listening ear
  • care for baby clothes, layettes and maternity clothing
  • presentations to schools and to community groups

If you would like to volunteer please call 613.546.5433

Birthright services are free and confidential. We rely on and need donations to continue helping pregnant women who are in need.
